Auckland Council election survey 2022

Organise Aotearoa has surveyed everyone standing for council in the 2022 Auckland Council elections.

We have ranked all candidates on their commitment to social justice, eliminating poverty, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, climate change action, public transport, reducing police harassment, preventing hate speech, and tenant rights.

While there is good coverage on the mayoral candidates, often it is hard to find good information on what councillors stand for. We hope the survey results and recommendations help you make informed decisions.

There are 13 wards, with 20 councillors returned altogether from those wards, which means in most wards you are able to vote for two councillors. These 20 councillors, plus the directly elected mayor (who everyone can vote for) make up the council and hold the power to make decisions for all of the city.
